1. Patrick Barclay of Towie married Barbara Wilson.

1.1. John Barclay (1705-1781) was the son of Patrick Barclay of Towie. He was minister in Delting Shetland: FES, Vol.7, p.307.

1.1.1. Patrick Barclay (1757-1844) was the son of John Barclay, minister in Delting. He was minister in Sandsting, Shetland: FES, Vol.7, p.315. He married 1.2.1. Isobel Barclay, his cousin, daughter of James Barclay of Towie Hill.

1.1.1.1. Elspeth Barclay (1808-1854) was the daughter of Patrick Barclay, minister in Sandsting. She married John Duncan, minister of Dunrossness, Shetland: FES, Vol.7, p.283.

1.1.1.2. Elizabeth Bruce Barclay (1791-1885) was the daughter of Patrick Barclay, minister in Sandsting. She married Dr Theodore Gordon, surgeon to the Forces. His father was George William Algernon Gordon, minister of Keith, Banffshire: FES, Vol.6, p.321; his mother was Cecilia Reid, daughter of Patrick Reid, minister of Clatt, Aberdeenshire: FES, Vol.6, p.124; and his grand-father was Theodore Gordon, minister of Kennethmont, Aberdeenshire: FES, Vol.6, p.131; and his paternal grand-mother was Anne Gordon, daughter of Professor George Gordon of Aberdeen: FES, Vol.7, p.368. 1.2. James Barclay of Towie Hill (1718-1784) was the son of Patrick Barclay of Towie.

1.2.1. Isabel Barclay was the daughter of James Barclay of Towie Hill. She married her cousin 1.1.1. Peter Barclay.

1.2.2. Peter Barclay (1749-1841) was the son of James Barclay of Towie Hill. He was minister in Kettle, Fife: FES, Vol.5, p.159.

1.2.2.1. John Barclay (1795-1826) was the son of Peter Barclay, minister in Kettle. He was minister in Kingston, Ontario, Canada: FES, Vol.7, p.625.

1.2.2.2. Mary Ann Barclay (1799-1841) was the daughter of Peter Barclay, minister in Kettle. She married James Barclay of 1.2.3.1. Knockleith, her cousin.

1.2.2.3. Elizabeth Cleland Barclay (1792-1841) was the daughter of Peter Barclay, minister in Kettle. She married Thomas Martin, merchant.

1.2.2.3.1. Margaret Martin (1820-1898) was the daughter of Thomas Martin, merchant. She married 1.2.3.1.2. Charles Barclay of that Ilk.

1.2.3. Charles Barclay of Knockleith (1752-1838) was the son of James Barclay of Towie Hill.

1.2.3.1. James Barclay of Knockleith (1782-1856) was the son of Charles Barclay of Knockleith. He married 1.2.2.2. Mary Ann Barclay, his cousin.

1.2.3.1.1. Margaret Helen Barclay (1824-d.<1852) was the daughter of James Barclay. She married George Brown, a Free Church minister. She died before the 1851 census; and he re-married.

1.2.3.1.1.1. Annie Brown (1856-1945) was the daughter of George Brown, Free Church minister, by his second wife. She married Patrick John Murdoch, a Free Church minister. He was the son of James Murdoch, also a Free Church minister; and he was the grand-father of Rupert Murdoch – the Rupert Murdoch.

1.2.3.1.2. Charles Barclay of that Ilk (1826-1902) was the son of James Barclay of Knockleith. He married his relative 1.2.2.3.1. Margaret Martin.

1.2.3.1.2.1. Charles James de Tollie Barclay (1863-?) was the son of Charles Barclay of that Ilk. He married Elizabeth Thomson Bruce, the daughter of Thomas Bruce, a Free Church minister.

1.2.3.1.3. Peter Barclay (1827-1906) was the son of James Barclay of Knockleith. He was ordained by the Free Church for service in New Zealand: see NZ Presbyterian Archives. He married Mary Gordon, who was (1) twin sister of Margaret Gordon the wife of Andrew Donald; and (2) a cousin of Francis Gordon – both of these men being Free Church ministers. 1.2.3.2. Barbara Barclay (1785-1864) was the daughter of Charles Barclay of Knockleith. She married John Peter, farmer.

1.2.3.2.1. James Peter (1823-1886) was the son of John Peter, farmer. He was minister of Deer, Aberdeenshire: FES, Vol.6, p.217.

1.2.3.3. John Barclay (1789-?) was the son of Charles Barclay of Knockleith. He was a farmer and teacher.

1.2.3.3.1. Charles William Barclay (1817-1896) was the son of John Barclay, farmer and teacher. He was a Free Church minister. He married Helen Innes. Her father, George Innes, and her brother, George Innes, were both Free Church ministers. See also the Innes Milne Murray Tree.

1.2.3.4.2. Williamina Barclay (1851-1887) was the daughter of William Barclay, Free Church minister.
