1. John Bonar 5th of Kilgraston married Agnes Graham, daughter of Laurence Graham of Callander.

1.1. John Bonar (1671-1747) was the son of John Bonar, 5th of Kilgraston. He was minister of Torphichen, West Lothian: FES, Vol.1, p.231

1.1.1. John Bonar (1696-1752) was the son of John Bonar, minister of Torphichen. He was minister in Fetlar, Shetland: FES, Vol.7, p.296.

1.1.1.1. John Bonar (1721-1761) was the son of John Bonar, minister of Fetlar. He was minister of the West Church, Perth: FES, Vol.4, p.235.

1.1.1.1.1. Archibald Bonar (1753-1816) was the son of John Bonar, minister of the West Church, Perth. He was minister of Cramond, Edinburgh: FES, Vol.1, p.12. He married (1) Bridget Black, daughter of David Black, minister of Perth: FES, Vol.4, p.231 – see the Balfour Tree; and (2) Anne Bonar, his cousin – 1.1.1.2.2. Anne Bonar.

1.1.1.1.1.1. Elizabeth Bonar (1797-1865) was the daughter of Archibald Bonar, minister of Cramond. She married John Purves, a Free Church minister.

1.1.1.1.1.1.1. Peter Charles Purves (1828-1914) was the son of John Purves, a Free Church minister. He too was a Free Church minister.

1.1.1.1.1.2. John Bonar (1801-1863) was the son of Archibald Bonar, minister of Cramond. He was a Free Church minister.

1.1.1.1.1.3. Ann Bonar (1804-1875) was the daughter of Archibald Bonar, minister of Cramond. Note that FES, Vol.3, p.217 says that James Morison’s wife was Ann Bonar, daughter of Archibald Bonar, banker, Edinburgh and that FES, Vol.1, p.13 says that the daughter of Archibald Bonar, minister of Cramond, married John Morison, Free Church minister, Port Glasgow. The censuses make it clear that Ann Bonar, the minister’s daughter, married James Morison, Free Church minister in Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire.

1.1.1.1.2. Thomas Bonar (1756-1814) the son of John Bonar, minister of the West Church, Perth. He was a merchant in Edinburgh.

1.1.1.1.2.1. Elisabeth Bell Bonar (1811-1882) was the daughter of Thomas Bonar, merchant, Edinburgh. She married Robert Burns, a Free Church minister. See also Robert Burns in the Chalmers Burns Guthrie Tree.

1.1.1.1.3. James Bonar (1757-1825) was the son of John Bonar, minister of the West Church, Perth. He was a solicitor of excise.

1.1.1.1.3.1. John James Bonar (1803-1891) was the son of James Bonar, solicitor of excise. He was a Free Church minister.

1.1.1.1.3.2. Horatius Bonar (1808-1889) was the son of James Bonar, solicitor of excise. He was a Free Church minister. He married Jane Catherine Lundie, daughter of Robert Lundie, minister in Kelso, Roxburghshire: FES, Vol.2, p.72. See also the Lundie Tree.

1.1.1.1.3.2.1. Mary Lundie Bonar (1844-) was the daughter of Horatius Bonar, Free Church minister. She married George Theophilus Dodds, missionary with the McAll Mission in Paris for whom there is an obituary on this web-site, here. His father was Thomas Boswell Dodds, a Free Church minister. His mother was Isabella Gardner Dickson, who was born in Astrakhan, South Russia, where her father John Dickson was a missionary with the Scottish Missionary Society. His sister, Mary Jane Dodds, was a missionary in Lovedale, South Africa.

1.1.1.1.3.2.2. Horatius Ninian Bonar (1860-1930) was the son of Horatius Bonar, Free Church minister. He too was a Free Church minister.

1.1.1.1.3.2.3. Emily Florence Bonar (1861-1937) was the daughter of Horatius Bonar, Free Church minister. She married Duncan Clark MacNicol. He was a Free Church minister, and the son of a Free Church minister, Duncan MacNicol.

1.1.1.1.3.3. Andrew Alexander Bonar (1810-1892) was the son of James Bonar, solicitor of excise. He was a Free Church minister.

1.1.1.1.3.3.1. Jane Christian Bonar (1861-1940)was the daughter of Andrew Alexander Bonar, Free Church minister. She married David Martin MacIntyre, Free Church minister. See also the Miller Martin Tree.

1.1.1.2. Andrew Bonar (1734-1803) was the son of John Bonar, minister of Fetlar. He is described as: “of Craigleith, schoolmaster”.

1.1.1.2.1. James Bonar (1771-1843) was the son of Andrew Bonar of Craigleth. He was an accountant of excise.

1.1.1.2.1.1. Andrew Redman Bonar (1818-1867) was the son of James Bonar, accountant of excise. He was minister of Canongate Church Edinburgh: FES, Vol.1, p.27.

1.1.1.2.2. Anne Bonar was the daughter of Andrew Bonar of Craigleth. She married her cousin 1.1.1.1.1. Archibald Bonar, minister of Cramond.
