A.1. George MacPhail, fishery officer, Ullapool, Ross and Cromarty, married Annie Ross.
A.1.1. John MacPhail (1820-1883) was said to be the son of George Ross, fishery officer. He was a merchant in Ullapool, Ross and Cromarty.
A.1.1.1. George Ross MacPhail (1858-1940) was the son of John MacPhail. He was a Free Church minister.
A.1.1.2. Isabella MacPhail (b.1861) was the daughter of John MacPhail. She married Neil Maclean Morrison, a Free Church minister.
A.1.2. James Calder MacPhail (1820-1908) was the son of George MacPhail, fishery officer. He married Annie Badenoch Nicolson. She was the daughter of James Wilson, minister of Farnell, Angus: see FES, Vol.5, p.394; whose wife was the daughter of Sir William Nicolson of Glenbervie. Annie Nicolson’s grand-father, George Wilson, was minister of Kinnaird, Perthshire: FES, Vol.5, p.396.
A.1.2.1. Earle Monteith MacPhail (1861-1937) was the son of James Calder MacPhail, minister. He was a Free Church missionary.
A.1.3. John Sinclair MacPhail (1824-1911) was the son of George MacPhail, fishery officer. He married B.1.1.3.1. Janet Reid Finlayson, the daughter of John Finlayson, minister.
A.1.4. Anna Ross MacPhail (1831-1867) was a daughter of George MacPhail, fishery officer. She married C.1.1. George Gordon Macleod, a Free Church minister. See below.
A.1.5. Mary Ross MacPhail (b.c.1835-1923) was the daughter of George MacPhail, fishery officer. She married William S. McDougall, a Free Church minister.
A.1.6. Simeon Ross MacPhail (1839-1912) was the son of George MacPhail, fishery officer. He married Margaret Barry; she was the sister of Francis Renton Barry and John Coupar Barry, Free Church ministers.

B.1.1. Janet Reid (1761-1831) was the daughter of James Reid, Beath. She married John Hoyes, minister of Kinloss, Moray: FES, Vol.6, p.425. There was a John Hoyes who was either a son or a nephew of this minister; he was a merchant in the West Indies. He had a daughter, Louisa Hoyes, who married William McDonald, United Secession minister in Lossiemouth, Moray (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/lbs/person/view/10703).
B.1.1.1. Agnes Hoyes (b.1783) was the daughter of John Hoyes, Kinloss. She married George Panton – not “Paton” as FES says.
B.1.1.1.1. George Ann Panton (b.c.1815-1873) was the son of George Panton. He was a Free Church minister.
B.1.1.1.1.1. Jane Craig Panton (1853-1923) was the daughter of George Ann Panton, minister. She married George Paulin in 1884. He was parish minister in Muckhart.
B.1.1.1.1.2. Agnes Hoyes Panton (1854-1915) was the daughter of George Ann Panton, minister. She married Charles Beveridge Ross. He was minister in Canada in Lancaster, Ontario, and in Earl Grey and Gibbs, Saskatchewan: FES, Vol.7, p.650. His father was Charles Ross, minister in Cleish, Kinross-shire: FES, Vol.5, p.62; and his sister, Margaret Williamson Beveridge married Rev. James Armitage, M.D., Hastings, Sussex, England.
B.1.1.2. Beatrice Hoyes (1802-1879) was the daughter of John Hoyes, Kinloss. She – not Robina as FES says – married Thomas Gillan.
B.1.1.2.1. Janet Gillan (1827-1893) was the daughter of Thomas Gillan. She married James Morrison, a Free Church minister.
B.1.1.3. Christina Hoyes (d.1834) was the daughter of John Hoyes, Kinloss. She married John Finlayson, minister of Cromarty: FES, Vol.7, p.7.
B.1.1.3.1. Janet (Jessie) Reid Finlayson (1825-1875) was the daughter of John Finlayson, Cromarty. She married A.1.3. John Sinclair MacPhail, a Free Church minister.
